FAQ
Is It Safe?
Elaho River Adventures and Canadian Outback Adventures are proud to be a pioneer of
high safety standards in the adventure industry. River
Rafting in the Province of British Columbia is heavily
regulated by various levels of government. The Commercial River
Rafting Registrar and the BC Government have the reputation
for being the strictest in the world. All of our river
guides certified through the Provincial Rafting registrar
and carry current BC rafting licenses.
Do I need experience?
No! Some of our trips have minimum age restrictions,
but with the diversity of the Squamish area and its rivers there
is a trip for all levels of enthusiasts. Before you ever step
into a boat, your Guides will give you a full explanation of the
raft, a detailed safety talk and all of the associated gear to
make sure that you are comfortable and willing to participate.
Do I need to be athletic?
Elaho River Adventures runs a variety of trips that require different
levels of participation. Our trips are designed for people who
want to explore and experience the wilderness. You will be paddling
and hiking, so you do need to be healthy......but not a tri-athlete.
What are the age limits?
Elaho River Adventures clients have ranged in age from 5 to 75
years old. The most important "skill" you can possess
is the desire to have Fun! For families with kids under 13 we
run family oriented trips such as Cheakamus Splash.
Who goes Rafting with Elaho River Adventures?
While there is no such thing as an average rafter, there
is one thing that most participants have in common -
the desire for a fun outdoor experience! All of our trips
can be customized to our clients' needs
How many people go in one boat?
Most of our rafts carry up to 8 clients and their guide. Different boats for different floats”
is what we say at Elaho River Adventures. We believe that different
sections of rivers have different needs regarding the size of
the raft.
What kind of the food is served? Do we eat wieners and
beans?
Only if you request it!! Our Outback BBQ is both hearty and delectable, BBQ chicken breasts, potato
salad, veggie platters and dip, warm dinner roles, fresh green
salad, chips and salsa and to top off the day warm freshly baked
cookies.
Our two day menus often have themes and can be customized
to suit each group. To further facilitate your fabulous
meals, we carry four-burner propane stoves and a full kitchen
kit. This means your meals are hot and ready quickly -
no more making toast over the fire on the end of a stick!
Does Elaho River Adventures charge extra for equipment?
No. Once you meet your Guides we'll take it from there. All rafting
specific equipment is included. This means you need only bring
your personal active/camping clothing. Don't worry, we will send
you a complete packing list of what you will need to be warm and
comfortable.
Does rafting impact the environment?
Elaho River Adventures is committed to the preservation of wilderness
habitats in the Pacific Northwest. Our trips are therefore designed
to promote an understanding of this unique region's delicate ecosystems
while preserving their natural integrity. We take a low-impact,
self-contained, leave-no-traces approach, carrying in what we
need and carrying out all garbage and waste. After enjoying such
incredible natural beauty, we want to know that we've left the
environment unspoiled for a future of generations.
